OFSTED REPORT HIGHLIGHTS

Barnes Montessori Nursery School received its most recent visit from OFSTED in February 2008. We are delighted to report that we achieved "outstanding" in all areas.

HELPING CHILDREN TO BE HEALTHY

Children develop excellent routines which promote their awareness of healthy practices.

Dietary requirements are extremely well met and excellent systems ensure that staff are aware of children with allergies.

Children's health is very effectively protected by all staff. Risk assessments are carried out. All necessary documentation is in place.

Children's well-being and physical development is extremely well promoted through daily opportunities to play outside and develop large muscle skills.

PROTECTING CHILDREN FROM HARM OR NEGLECT AND HELPING THEM STAY SAFE

Children are kept safe through vigilant supervision and security. Staff are extremely well deployed to ensure children remain safe in all areas.

Staff have a good knowledge of child protection issues.

HELPING CHILDREN ACHIEVE WELL AND ENJOY WHAT THEY DO

Children benefit from the warm, caring from staff, they settle quickly and enjoy their time at the setting.

The quality of the teaching and learning is outstanding. Staff are extremely knowledgeable of the Montessori principles and teaching methods, and have excellent systems to cross-reference this to the Foundation Stage curriculum and promote all the early learning goals.

HELPING CHILDREN MAKE A POSITIVE CONTRIBUTION

Children have very high self-esteem, and are confident and independent learners. Their contributions are valued by staff which impacts on their behaviour, which is exemplary. Staff consistently reinforce positive behaviour and provide excellent, calm, role models, so children work together harmoniously.

ORGANISATION

The qualified, experienced staff work well as a team, and are enthusiastic and committed to the Montessori ethos.

The leadership and management of the nursery is outstanding. Comprehensive systems are used to evaluate all areas of the provision, which significantly enhances the standard of the education.

REGISTRATION

If you are interested in registering for a place then please contact the Principal.

Children are registered for entry only in the September term and have to be 2 years old by the cut-off date of 31st March of the year in which they are registering for. Subject to availability there are occasional places at other times of the year.

The offer of a place is subject to availability, and registration does not guarantee a place. Places are confirmed February prior to entry date.

SCHOOL HOURS

9.20 am - 12.20 p.m. (Monday - Friday)

Children in the Butterfly Class finish at 12 noon on Fridays.

Children who take afternoon sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays finish at 3 p.m.

SCHOOL POLICIES

The school has an extensive list of school policies which are available upon request. They are reviewed every year and more frequently if necessary. The School safeguards and promotes the children's welfare at all times.

The Barnes Montessori Nursery Safeguarding Policy and Procedure follows the London Safeguarding Board procedures which can be found on www.londonscb.gov.uk

Safeguarding children is everyone's responsibility.
